The Union Township Planning Department actively works to promote high quality and sustainable development patterns within the township by carefully evaluating each development request against the adopted policy recommendations of the Union Township Comprehensive Land Use Plan 20/20. This Land Use Plan was adopted by the Union Township Board of Trustees and establishes different corridor-specific "ground-rules" for development throughout the township. This corridor-specific plan was developed through a series of public meetings involving key stakeholders, including business owners, elected and appointed officials, and residents of Union Township, and is meant to provide long term, sustainable growth solutions. While each development maintains its own unique set of circumstances, the key to promoting high-quality development is ensuring that the goals of the adopted land use plan are consistently advanced with each successive development request. This is especially critical given the township's continued population growth, estimated to swell to 51,602 residents by the year 2010.
