The Union Township Police Department offers the following services: Neighborhood Watch Citizen Police Academy Women's Self Defense National Night Out Jr. Police Academy Kids Talk Vacation Check Group discussions involving neighborhood crime prevention and the benefits of a Block Watch program. These talks are available to neighborhoods within Union Township.
This is a program that Union Township Police Department offers once or twice a year. The program lasts for 12 weeks, once a week between the hours of 6-9 pm and there are is one Saturday class in which students will go to the firearms range for instruction. The 12 weeks culminates with a graduation ceremony for all participants and family members of those that have completed the 12 week program. The simulated police academy put on for citizens and people who work in Union Township touches on various law enforcement topics ranging from investigations and forensics to defensive driving, self defense and drug interdiction. This interactive program reduces the mystery that is sometimes placed between law enforcement and the public.
Free Self Defense classes offered periodically throughout the year and instructed by our trained police officers. These classes are designed to teach the basic skills and maneuvers to give women the confidence and ability to protect themselves.
Our annual night out with the residents of Union Township at Veteran's Park gives our citizen's a chance to det to know their police officers in a festival type setting that sends a message to criminals that we are all working together to keep crimes out of our neighborhoods.
An abbreviated version of the Citizen Academy put on for children age 12 to 15 with police topics geared towards that age range.
Group discussions on crime prevention put on by police officers for a variety of groups ranging from Brownies and Cub Scouts to Elementary students.
