Dear Chief Deimling, On April 9, I responded with Medic 48 to (a residence) for an intoxicated male with difficulty breathing. Upon arrival, we made contact with (the patient), who was highly intoxicated. (The patient) was very uncooperative with FF Mike Smith. During our contact, the subject became out of control and I had to deploy my Taser on the subject. Due to his high level of intoxication and close proximity of the Taser deployment, it did not have the desired effect. (The patient) came toward me to fight. At this time, FF Mike Smith assisted me in subduing (the subject). Without the help of FF Mike Smith, I believe the situation would have escalated to a much more dangerous level. I would like to thank FF Mike Smith for his assistance. I look forward to a long future and close working relationship with the members of your department. Sincerely, P.O. Josh Hathorn

I wish to thank these people for their level of professional conduct, rapid response and courtesy. Your organization is a valuable asset to the community. I will support it in any way I can. Best regards. William D. Sutter

Dear Lt. Kevin Cooper, My husband and I would like to thank you for helping us out last Friday after the storm. I was very frightened by the electrical problem the storm left us. My husband just had eye surgery, was very groggy, and I didn’t know how to get him out in case the house caught fire. I know it is your job, but you went beyond. Thank you so much for staying until Duke Energy came. Also, the other firefighters, thank you, and the paramedic firefighter named Brad (don’t know your name) for staying. Brad, you put some levity to the whole situation. Thank you, everyone, and especially Lt. Cooper. Gail and Leon Moore

FF Travis and John
Dear Chief, I am writing to compliment and thank two of your crew who gave a tour to children I care for. Travis and John went all out to show them the fire truck, ambulance and building. The children were given fireman hats and other items. They were so excited to tell their parents all about it. I was truly impressed with these two gentlemen – they were great with the children. A Big Thank You for all you do, Travis and John, and all the rest of our great Fire Department. You have hearts of heroes. Tina Hibble
Lt. Vicki Conneighton
Dear Vicki Conneighton, Thank you for attending and speaking at our Public and Fire Safety meeting. It’s a pleasure working in a community in which everyone contributes to helping others. I was very pleased with the results and I hope to continue working together to keep our community safe and well. Your time was very much appreciated. Sincerely, Maegan Miller
Lt. Thumann, FF Strittholt, FF Rooms and FF Buzcak
Dear Chief Deimling: On the evening of July 6, 2008, my three-and-a-half year old son took a hard fall on our driveway. My wife and I felt it best to call 9-1-1 to make sure he was not critically injured. Your team of Lt. Mike Thumann, Mr. Dave Strittholt, Mr. Jason Rooms and Mr. Ben Buzcak executed their mission by exceeding expectations in all aspects of Life Safety Services. Hindsight always being clearer, a call to 9-1-1 may not have been necessary. However, we were comforted by your team and treated unconditionally as if the emergency was life threatening. All township residents should be proud and grateful for your department’s incomparable service. Thank you. Regards, Denise and Andrew Johns
Lt. Vicki Conneighton
Dear Vicki, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating your time and sharing your knowledge in CPR. You were so helpful and patient in answering all of my questions. I feel much better knowing that I know CPR, not only as a citizen to help others, but as a mom for my children. Sincere thanks to you. What you do is priceless! Lori Williams ACP Volunteer

Dear Firefighters and EMT staff, Two times in the last month, Union Township has taken me to Anderson Mercy Hospital, not to mention many times before. While I realize this is what you have chosen to do with your life and you must find satisfaction and reward in it, I feel it’s such a thankless job. To me, you are “Good Deed Angels” and I am so grateful to all of you. If it weren’t for you, I might not be here now. You all do a wonderful job, a dangerous job, a thankless job. I am but a poor woman, but if I were a woman of wealth, Union Township would surely benefit from my riches. Thank you so much. Linda Still

Dear Asst. Chief Auffart, My wife, Betty (Bob’s sister) and I would like to express our deep and sincere appreciation for your quick response and thoughtful manner in which you responded to Joann’s emergency call of his being found on the floor in the garage. Upon our arrival on the scene, your kind and sensitive words sharing with Betty and me that Bob was gone showed your compassion and caring for us. Then the interaction we witnessed with his wife, Joanne, and others that came upon the scene is to be commended as well. Then for your crew to place his body in the house so that the family and friends could say their last goodbyes only added to your respect for him and the family. For all your men’s individual kindness, we are grateful. Sincerely, Harvey W. Koch

To Whom It May Concern:
I want to thank the lady on the 9-1-1 desk and the team of Tim, Jeff, Craig and Bob who had the ambulance run on Sept. 17, 2008, at about 6:40 a.m. My husband went into a diabetic coma and they came and worked with him, getting him stabilized, and then took him to the hospital.
They were all so nice to both of us and I think praise should be given to all of them.
We’re only used the service twice since 1949 but it’s wonderful to know it’s available when needed.
THANKS, GUYS!
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley E. Fletcher

Both of them were great. They were very kind and understanding. We really appreciate their help. Sincerely, Mary Lou and Pat McKee

Dear Chief,
I would like to express my appreciation to you for providing four of your firemen and the big truck for our celebration of the Born Learning Trail in Mt. Carmel Park this past Saturday.
This event was geared toward pre-school children and their families. Your four men did a great job interacting with the children and showing them the big truck. I think it was the hit of the day!
I hope that you will share our gratitude with the men from the station on Old 74.

Dear Chief Deimling, Just a quick note to express our sincere thanks to your Fire Department for the outstanding job they did for us on October 14. This is the fifth year that your department has helped in making our parade a huge success for our neighborhood. The children love having the fire truck lead the parade. The firefighters were professional and friendly. This year, we raised $700 that will benefit The Lymphoma Society. Thanks again for your excellent staff and for providing outstanding service to our community. Sincerely, Tammy Calhoun Parade Coordinator

Dear Members of the Union Township Life Squad, Three times this year our family has had emergency health problems serious enough to call the Life Squad and receive help from them. Twice, my husband was taken to Mercy Hospital Anderson; and the last time was in late October, when I fell down the basement steps. Thank you for always being available, ready and waiting when we need to call you. Everyone who has been here has been very polite, gentle and skillful in knowing our needs. You are like our own small army of protectors and we always count on your being there for us. As we never know the names of the men who come to help us, please let them know how much we appreciate their service to our community. Thanks to all of you for what you’ve done fur us. God bless you. Gratefully yours, Robert & Theresa Seipelt

Dear Chief Stanley Deimling, On November 16, I called 9-1-1 for my mom, Marian Rohrscheib. She was 79 years old. She was having problems breathing. When the squad got here, they told me her oxygen level was 52. Those two men were so very nice to her. They made my mom very comfortable. She told them the oxygen was wonderful. While going to the hospital, they kept talking to each other on her progress. They took her nail polish off. Then her oxygen level was at 55%. They made her feel so comfortable and they were very positive to both my mom and myself. We lost my mom on November 20 and we wanted to let you know what wonderful people you have working at the Union Township Station No. 48 Fire Department. Our family also wants to let them know how grateful we are for them. God bless our firemen! Sincerely yours, Janet Hale
