Vietnam Veterans Chapter 649This year marks the 20th consecutive year that the Vietnam Veterans of America, Clermont Chapter 649, has held a 24-hour Memorial Day vigil at the Union Township Veterans' Memorial Park. The helicopter rests on a platform of hundreds of bricks, some of which are inscribed, but many are not. To honor this anniversary, the VVA is hoping you will make a donation of $30 to have a brick inscribed. The proceeds will be used to maintain all the memorials at the park. Senior Services Annual AuctionClermont Senior Services Inc. will have its annual auction, Art, Antiques & Collectibles, at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at Receptions Banquet Center, Eastgate. The silent auction, social hour and appetizers start at 5 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Auctioneer Joel T. Wilson conducts the live auction. Cost is $45 per person. Dress is business casual and a cash bar is available. Raffle tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 each or three for $20. Military Order of the Purple HeartMilitary Order of the Purple Heart Sgt. Michael Mather invites Purple Heart recipients to join the newly-created Union Township Chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. The first meeting is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, in the Queen City Room at the Union Township Civic Center, 4350 Aicholtz Road.
